Dr. Amel Anderson was assistant dean of administration in the former College of Life Sciences (now part of the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences). He was much beloved amongst the community, served as mentor to countless students and had a close association with the Caribbean Students Association. He retired from the University of Maryland after thirty years of service and funds were collected from colleagues and former students in his honor to establish this endowment. The Amel Anderson Legacy Fund provides need- and merit-based support for students who are first generation college students or students who completed high school in Prince George’s County or Baltimore City.
