In April 2019, the Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Innovation was established in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS) by a transformational donation from Brendan Iribe. Iribe is a celebrated member of the university's community and is honored in the technological and gaming realm as the CEO and co-founder of Oculus VR, Inc. and Scaleform. Seeking to invoke inspiration and educational excellence at his alma mater, Iribe’s philanthropy resulted in the construction of a state-of-the-art computer science center at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering is the heart of technological innovation and contemporary advancement to enhance the university’s top-ranked Department of Computer Science. The center honors the Iribe family’s benevolent contributions to the University of Maryland, including creating scholarships and endowed professorships for the computer science department.
“ The space is designed for hackers, makers and engineers, which will help give rise to future breakthroughs, products and start-ups that will transform the way we live and interact with the world around us.” -Brendan Iribe
