A generous Terp established the Carol Karp Award in December 2024. This fund is for Carol Karp, who spent her entire teaching career at the University of Maryland mentoring both doctoral students and young faculty. A highly respected member of the international logic community, who made seminal advances in the study of infinitary logics, Dr. Karp was instrumental in the growth of the Mathematical Logic group at Maryland. This fund, named in memory of Dr. Karp, supports awards to recognize outstanding undergraduate students at the University of Maryland with a special interest in logic who are taking courses in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.
