Dr. Robert F. Brammer, MA '70, Ph.D. '72 established the Dr. Robert Brammer Undergraduate Endowment in March 2020 to provide support for undergraduate students in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences. Support for undergraduate students may include but is not limited to travel awards, research funding, and seed funds for climate science projects.
Dr. Brammer is the President and CEO of Brammer Technology, LLC, a consultancy focused on advanced information technology, environment and climate, and security. He recently retired as vice president for Advanced Technology and chief technology officer (CTO) for Northrop Grumman's Information Systems (IS) sector. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi, is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, and he has received achievement awards for work on the Apollo program and for principal investigator research on NASA and NOAA satellite remote-sensing programs. Dr. Brammer currently serves as a member of the Board of Visitors for the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland.
