In September 2018, Fredric J. Feldman Ph.D. '67 and Claire Feldman established the Fredric J. Feldman Ph.D. ’67 and Claire Feldman Student Success Endowment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS). The endowed fund supports programs that foster graduate student success for chemistry and biochemistry students.
Fredric J. Feldman received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1967 and credits the university for providing opportunities that led to his successful career in medical diagnostic instrumentation and biotechnology. Feldman established this fund to encourage future students to study in the same nurturing environment that allowed him to build lifelong connections and the foundation for his career. Gifts to this fund support projects, writing workshops, dissertation awards, and other resources for graduate students in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
“The University of Maryland was where it all started for me. It was where I married my wife, had my first child, made lifelong friends, and launched my career.” -Fredric J. Feldman Ph.D. '67
