The University of Maryland is proud to be one of the pioneering campuses participating in the inaugural year of the Welcome Corps on Campus (WCOC) program. WCOC represents a groundbreaking initiative that connects higher education access with refugee resettlement, providing a unique pathway to education and opportunity for refugee students from around the world.
For refugee students participating in the Welcome Corps on Campus (WCOC) program, our support extends far beyond tuition and fees. We understand that education is not just about attending classes; it's about having access to all the tools and resources necessary for a fulfilling college experience. This includes providing support for housing and dining, textbooks and academic materials, as well as essential items such as healthcare, warm clothing, a computer, and a phone.
At UMD, our participation in WCOC reflects our commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive society by providing educational opportunities to individuals who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or other forms of adversity. Through WCOC, we are not only transforming the lives of individual students but also contributing to building a more just and compassionate world.
