College of Behavioral and Social Sciences Maryland Promise Scholarship

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences Maryland Promise Scholarship Fund was generously established by Mr. Robert R. Satterfield '95. This endowed fund will support need-based scholarships with preference given to undergraduate students in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland under the auspices of the Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program. As part of The Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation and the University of Maryland.  A donation of any amount automatically doubles the investment in the lives of future Terps. The Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program, established by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation as part of "Building Together: An Investment for Maryland" in 2017 is an endowed scholarship program established in partnership with the University. When fully funded, the Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program will reach $100 million to provide need-based scholarship to undergraduate students from underserved populations from the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. The program will be funded through three sources -- $25 million in matching dollars from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, $25 million in matching dollars from the University of Maryland and $50 million from private philanthropic sources. Students selected to receive these awards will be known as Maryland Promise Scholars.  To learn more about Building Together: An Investment for Maryland, visit buildingtogether.umd.edu.
