Established in 1965, the University of Maryland Art Gallery collects, displays, and interprets art from diverse cultures. Our exceptional teaching collection includes over 5,000 objects ranging from antiquity to the present, donated by UMD alumni and gallery supporters. By bringing world-class art to College Park, the UMD Art Gallery serves as a public gathering point for acknowledging, discussing, and debating the long and complex history of past human affairs as well as addressing the most important issues of our time.
The UMD Art Gallery is currently seeking funding to help broaden public access to and understanding of its permanent collection. This includes the ongoing digitization of its collection as well as the appropriate use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), among other emerging technologies, to bolster the appreciation and interpretation of art. Additionally, the funding will support student-centric work, providing opportunities for students to engage in hands-on, object-based scholarship.
Thank you for supporting the UMD Art Gallery. Your gift is valued and appreciated.
