Charles W. Finn ’76 and Jane B. Finn
Charles (Chuck) Finn received his undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Maryland, College Park and went on to receive a Ph.D. degree in Biology from Georgetown University. Chuck was a first-generation college graduate and appreciates the role the University of Maryland played in his personal life and professional success.
During his education at Maryland and Georgetown, Chuck discovered his passion for the field of genetics and the newly emerging field of molecular biology. Chuck was fortunate to have had mentors who changed his life and enabled him to spend the past 40 years applying his scientific education and training to help develop medicines to treat patients suffering from serious disease. Chuck began his career at the Food and Drug Administration and then joined the biotech industry. In 2002, he co- founded RRD International, a product development company and has successfully partnered with scientists from academia and biopharmaceutical companies, entrepreneurs, and financial investors to advance the development of numerous novel products to treat a wide range of diseases with high unmet medical need.
Chuck’s wife, Jane Finn received her undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree from the George Washington University. Chuck and Jane understand the importance that a college education plays in enriching the lives of young people and society in general and are pleased to establish the Chuck and Jane Finn Maryland Promise Scholarship to support promising undergraduate students interested in mathematics and the sciences.
