Elizabeth and William Arbaugh, Ph.D. established the Gilligan Arbaugh Maryland Promise Scholarship in October 2018 to support need-based scholarships for undergraduate students under the auspices of the Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program. Scholarship recipients will be residents of the state of Maryland or the District of Columbia, with preference for students in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.
Elizabeth completed her graduate degree with the help of funding from her employer. As a high school math and computer science teacher, she created this fund in hopes that this scholarship will provide the opportunity for a student who might not otherwise have been able to study at the University of Maryland.
