The University of Maryland Band Alumni Organization (UMBAO) and friends of the Maryland Bands established the L. Richmond Sparks Mighty Sound of Maryland Fund to commemorate Dr. Sparks' distinguished 31 years of service to the University of Maryland as Director of the Mighty Sound of Maryland and as Director of Bands. The income from this endowment will be used to augment the operating budget of the University of Maryland Bands.
