Reid Compton and Nancy Compton established the Reid and Nancy Compton Maryland Promise Scholarship in April 2024 under the auspices of the Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program. This fund provides need-based scholarships for undergraduate students who are residents of Maryland or the District of Columbia, with preference for students in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.
Upon his retirement in 2024, Dr. Reid Compton was a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Biology and the first director of the newly reconfigured Biological Sciences Program. He has over 27 years of service to the University, including nearly 20 years as the Associate Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the biology department. Dr. Compton was the Director of the College Park Scholars Life Sciences Program for nine years and is the proud father of two Terps.
