Ted Robert Gurr Memorial Lecture Endowment

A pioneer in the field of political conflict and instability, Ted Robert Gurr passed away in 2017.  As a Professor Emeritus and Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland Department of Government and Politics, Dr. Gurr was internationally-recognized for his theoretical, comparative, and historical studies of societal conflict. In honor of his legacy in the field and commitment to the continued academic study of conflict, his wife Dr. Barbara Harff -- in reflection of his wishes -- established this endowed lecture fund with the University of Maryland College Park Foundation.

The Ted Robert Gurr Memorial Lecture Endowment will support the annual Ted Robert Gurr Memorial Lecture in the Department of Government and Politics by a prominent U.S. or internationally based social scientist working on the issues to which Ted devoted his academic life. This lecture will be facilitated by the Center for International Development and Conflict Management (CIDCM).
