From her days as a transfer student in the biological sciences at the University of Maryland (UMD) to her graduate training in podiatry at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, to a surgical residence at Weill Medical College and her becoming the CEO & Founder of Fix Your Feet, Inc., Yolanda Ragland’s story is one of grit, hard work, determination, perseverance, and breaking glass ceilings. She credits UMD, in part, for instilling in her the values and characteristics that have enabled her to build a successful niche podiatric practice—serving the foot needs of an approximately 85-90% African American clientele. Dr. Ragland is a proud Science Terp who was recently named one of the 25 Influential Black Women in Business. Having had the good fortune of a top-tier higher education and successful career, Dr. Ragland is establishing the Yolanda Ragland, DPM, Maryland Promise Scholarship to give back, pay forward, and provide CMNS undergraduates from underserved communities in Maryland and the District of Columbia access to excellent educational and career opportunities.
