Dr. David C. Holloway SAE Terps Racing Fund

Terps Racing is one of the most popular and competitive student teams at the University of Maryland. Comprised of roughly 100 team members, the program challenges students to design, build, and race either a Formula-style race car or Baja-style off-road vehicle. The students build and test their vehicles during the school year and perform in national competitions in the summer.

For more than 30 years, Professor David C. Holloway served as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and advisor to the Terps Racing Team. He was well-known for his exceptional dedication to undergraduate education and professional service as President of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Dr. Holloway passed away on October 14, 2016, and as a testament to his impact on the program and his many students, alumni and friends of Terps Racing have established this fund in his honor.

All gifts to this fund will support Terps Racing by helping to offset the costs of equipment and travel to continue the team's tradition of success. The fund will accrue until it reaches $50,000 or December 31, 2023, whichever comes first. If it reaches $50,000 on or before that date, it will become an endowed fund, and the spendable income will support the team's activities. If it does not reach $50,000 on or before that date, it will remain a current-use fund.
