Harry C. Alford III ’08 and Thomas C. Alford ’07 established the Alford Family Current-Use Scholarship in honor of Val Skeeter in African American Studies in April 2022. This fund provides merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in African American Studies in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland. Ms. Valencia Skeeter, for whom the fund is named, served as the Director of Administrative Services in the Department of African American Studies for 25 years.
