Presidential Priorities
I have two priorities as president: to pursue excellence in everything we do; and establish a more inclusive, multicultural campus. We must be excellent in supporting our students. Through emergency resources and scholarships we will accelerate student opportunity, accessibility, diversity and inclusion, propelling all Terps to higher excellence. Our support will propel the pursuit of knowledge and the pursuit of building the next generation of global citizens.
These two goals are intrinsically interconnected as inclusive excellence : we can't have one without the other. We are counting on your support to help increase need-based scholarships through the Maryland Promise Program. This fund, established by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, when fully funded, will include a $100 million endowment for need-based aid to undergraduate students from underserved populations in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation and the University of Maryland.
While we hope the worst of the pandemic's economic effects are behind us, members of our campus community can suddenly face financial emergencies at any time. With a gift to the UMD Student Crisis Fund, you can help us quickly respond to Terps in need of immediate assistance.
