Presidential Priorities
I have two priorities as president: to promote excellence in everything we do; and to create an inclusive, multicultural campus environment. We must be excellent in supporting our students. Through emergency resources and scholarships we will accelerate student opportunity and accessibility, diversity and inclusion, propelling all Terps to higher excellence.
At this time, because of the pandemic's significant impact on our economy, many students and their families are struggling to make ends meet. With a gift to the UMD Student Crisis Fund, you help to quickly respond to students in need of immediate financial assistance.
As we enter the final stage of our $1.5 billion fundraising campaign, Fearless Ideas, we are counting on your support to help increase need-based scholarships through the Maryland Promise Program. This fund, established by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, when fully funded, will include a $100 million endowment for need-based aid to undergraduate students from underserved populations in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation and the University of Maryland.
