Gifts to the iSchool Excellence Fund provide support to the College where the need is greatest, most often directed toward student aid, travel and research funding. Donations help the Dean respond quickly to the growing needs of our students and faculty, as well as offer opportunities to enhance the educational experience with expert lectures, conference visits and College outreach activities .
In addition, the Excellence Fund will be supporting scholarships for veterans and qualified students who enroll in the CyberSec First Responder: Threat Detection and Response (CFR) training course. The University of Maryland iSchool is the first and only academic institution in the country to provide this training to professionals who serve as our first line of defense. This 40 hour course will provide the skills necessary to analyze threats, design secure computing and network environments, proactively defend networks, and respond to/investigate cybersecurity incidents.
