Sonal B. Deshpande ’86 and Ashish S. Deshpande established the Deshpande Shell Innovative Rising Entrepreneurs (DESIRE) Endowed Student Award for the University of Maryland in February 2023 and amended the fund in April 2024. This fund supports awards to recognize undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Maryland who are student entrepreneurs at the Startup Shell.
