Established in 2001 to honor the numerous contributions to the University of its namesakes, the Dudley and Louisa Dillard Professorship in Economics supports the appointment of an outstanding tenured faculty member in the Department of Economics, who combines a nationally recognized program of research, teaching excellence, and a commitment to building the professional standing of the Department.
The present success and future impact of the teaching and research pursuits of the Department of Economics at the University of Maryland would not be possible without the guidance, generosity, and enduring legacy of its former Chair and faculty member, Dudley Dillard, and of his wife, Louisa Dillard, an economics instructor and a dedicated supporter of the University community.
