This fund supports the 2nd Lt. Richard W. Collins III “Courage Against Hate” Student Award in honor of 2nd Lt. Richard W. Collins III, a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army and Bowie State University student whose tragic death in May 2017 was felt by the entire UMD community. SPH presents this award to graduate and undergraduate students who show strong anti-racism efforts in the classroom and their communities.
