The Kenneth and Jacqueline Ulman Family Endowed Scholarship Honoring Kenneth Milford was established in 2016 by Jacqueline '96 and Kenneth '97 Ulman.
Jacqueline and Kenneth Ulman not only both majored in Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park, but credit their experiences at Maryland with shaping their professional and personal lives. Active in the UMCP Student Government Association with Jacqueline serving as Treasurer, they gained significant experience on campus and through internships in Annapolis and Washington, D.C. The internship Kenneth Ulman received at the White House began his odyssey in public service. The totality of the academic, campus and internship experiences Jacqueline and Kenneth had at Maryland provided the seminal education that has defined their lives. Kenneth and Jacqueline met at Maryland, and they are happily married with two wonderful daughters.
Jacqueline and Kenneth Ulman want to ensure that deserving students can achieve the success that they have had by experiencing the quality educational experience offered at the University of Maryland's Department of Government and Politics. In addition, by honoring Kenneth's grandfather, Kenneth Milford, they hope to continue a legacy that ended too soon. Kenneth Ulman is named after Kenneth Milford, who passed before Ulman was born. Milford was a leader in the civil rights movement in Baltimore and instilled into his children the values of honoring diversity, acceptance of all and opportunity for everyone. Those are the values for which Jacqueline and Kenneth continue to fight.
The Kenneth and Jacqueline Ulman Family Endowed Scholarship Honoring Kenneth Milford provides merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students studying Government and Politics in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
