Parichehr Hedayat Missaghi Scholarship

Parichehr Hedayat Missaghi - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and a pillar of her community - was born on 21 March 1941. Although she never had the opportunity to pursue higher education, throughout her life Parichehr Hedayat Missaghi always had a thirst for knowledge and a love of books and learning which she also instilled in her children, particularly her daughters, for whom she sacrificed everything in order to provide them with a first-class education. Devoted to the cause of education at all levels and in her tireless defense of women's rights everywhere, Parichehr Hedayat Missaghi especially encouraged women to pursue formal studies.

The Parichehr Hedayat Missaghi Scholarship will provide funding for one student per academic year in support of their studies at UMD. The scholarship named in her honor and awarded by the Office of the Dean (BSOS) will be a tangible and practical expression of her ethos.
