Brendan Iribe learned to appreciate the value of inclusion and diversity as essential workplace and life skills through role models and Facebook and Oculus' inclusion and diversity teams. This awareness led him to support the efforts of Dr. Jan Plane and the Maryland Center for Women in Computing (MCWIC). Inspired by MCWIC's success, he wants to expand and build on the program's strengths to enable Dr. Plane to make more significant strides toward inclusion and diversity.
Iribe generously established the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing to provide a wide range of programmatic support that will increase diversity and foster an environment of inclusion in the Department of Computer Science. With the vision of making the world more inclusive, he wishes to forge Maryland's computer science students and faculty into a community that reflects a broad tapestry of society.
