The School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation
Jack Smith Kerxton Memorial Fund

For the past two decades, Cookie Kerxton, John Torti and Tom Gallas have met each spring at the Torti Gallas office in Silver Spring, Maryland, to interview finalists for the Jack Smith Kerxton Memorial Fund Scholarship. The legacy of Cookie’s late husband, Jack, is kept alive through this scholarship program that has impacted generations of UMD’s architecture students. Awards offered through the Jack Smith Kerxton Memorial Fund provide opportunities that turn students into professionals, with a scholarship that includes an internship at Torti Gallas + Partners. In today’s financial landscape, a scholarship coupled with an internship offers students an invaluable learning experience. Your support of this scholarship provides bright students the chance to become our future architects, designers, educators, artists, preservationists, developers and leaders in the built environment.
