Joseph and Dorothy Sucher Graduate Endowed Prize in Physics

Professor Emeritus Joseph “Joe” Sucher (September 10, 1930 - October 18, 2019) was a particle theorist and devoted educator in the Department of Physics for 41 years. His wife of 58 years, Dorothy Sucher, was a psychotherapist, writer, and journalist. In 2018, Joe generously established the Joseph and Dorothy Sucher Graduate Endowed Prize in Physics in memory of his wife. Joe was well known in the Department of Physics for his great wit, his unfailing charm, and his memorable lyrics. The Joseph and Dorothy Sucher Graduate Endowed Prize will provide awards for meritorious graduate students studying relativistic theoretical physics in the Department of Physics.
