David C. Driskell Center Operating Fund

The Driskell Center was founded in 2001 to continue the legacy of David C. Driskell, an artist, scholar, and curator who envisioned a world where Black artists exist at the center of American art. As a creative incubator at the University of Maryland, we provide University and global communities with access to one of the foremost collections of Black archival art—2,000 art objects wide and 50,000 archival objects deep. Our programming encourages active learning and engagement with these assets, which advances individuals in their unique journeys as well as visibility and opportunity for past, present, and future Black artists. Your contribution will be directed toward a number of initiatives, such as the acquisition of new art and archive collections; presentations of scholarly lectures and panel discussions by artists and researchers; and support for undergraduate and graduate student assistants. Thank you for your support.
