The Robert A. Pattishall Endowed Scholarship was established by Marti Pattishall in loving memory of her husband. Robert Pattishall was born and raised in Washington, DC and Maryland. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1969 from the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering. He had a successful career in both the government and private industry, earning numerous awards and recognition.
During Mr. Pattishall’s career, he encouraged female engineers by mentoring women in engineering and always encouraging his five granddaughters in STEM courses at school. He was passionate about education and valued his own.
Mr. and Mrs. Pattishall have additional family connections with the University of Maryland. Their son, Robert A. Pattishall, Jr., received his BS in Aerospace Engineering in 1997 and daughter-in-law, Karen L. Pattishall, received her BA in Journalism in 1995. Their son, Michael J. Pattishall, received his BA in Criminology & Criminal Justice in 1999.
It is the hope of the Pattishall family that this scholarship will honor Mr. Pattishall’s life by supporting a student actively involved with the WIAA student group with a passion for excellence, superior motivation and intellectual curiosity.
