We are counting on your support to help increase need-based scholarships through the Maryland Promise Program (MPP.) This fund, established by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, when fully funded, will include a $100 million endowment for need-based aid to undergraduate students from underserved populations in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation and the University of Maryland.
I have two priorities as president: to pursue excellence in everything we do; and establish a more inclusive, multicultural campus. We must be excellent in supporting our students. Through emergency resources and scholarships, we will accelerate student opportunity, accessibility, diversity and inclusion, propelling all Terps to higher excellence. Our support will propel the pursuit of knowledge and the pursuit of building the next generation of global citizens. These two goals are intrinsically interconnected as inclusive excellence: we can't have one without the other.
The Maryland Promise Scholarship Program is an investment in our region's talented, hardworking students. Scholars in the program will receive support to develop academically, professionally and personally—and to ultimately become the next generation of leaders.
Supporting students, fueling groundbreaking research, advancing solutions to societal challenges—your gifts to the University of Maryland drive positive change in the world.
